ZincWorld was not a conventional article. It opened with a welcome, a two-sentence statement, and a long browser script that expanded repeated words across the screen. The effect belonged to an early interactive web: text became atmosphere, the page itself became a performance, and the visitor entered before encountering the dated blog.

From entrance to back number
The ZincWorld Blog BackNumber reveals what followed the animated introduction. It combines short English dispatches, fragments in Japanese and French, notes from rehearsals and tours, reflections on difference and solitude, and repeated addresses to listeners. The chronology runs backwards from 2011 into 2009, moving between emphatic concert notes and quieter statements about dreams, the moon and the self.
The old page’s visual language
The original script calculated the browser dimensions, placed text at the centre and changed the scale and grey value of repeated elements. Its palette moved from black through shades of grey, while changing scale made each repeated word feel as though it were approaching or receding. The result treated typography as movement rather than as a static block of prose.
Words, motion and identity
The entrance joined its short welcome to the ZincWorld name and then led toward dated writing about music, travel, dreams and the self. Project and persona names recur throughout those entries, giving the section a voice distinct from the novelist, film and general news pages.
